What about a congress in Vichy? Conference in a historic building

Offer your delegates more than just an event: a real experience. In Vichy, organise your conference in the heart of historic monuments, in a town listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, where elegance, history and the art of living meet.

Vichy and its UNESCO listing 11 water cities in Europe

On 24 July 2021, the 44th World Heritage Committee, meeting in Fuzhou (China), inscribed Europe’s eleven major spa towns, including Vichy, on the World Heritage List, in recognition of their outstanding universal value. These eleven towns* form a carefully selected series from among the hundreds of spa towns in Europe. The springs, thermal baths, promenades, opera houses, theatres, music pavilions, railway stations, parks, cafés, golf courses and racecourses… everything that has been preserved today from this glorious period bears witness to this exceptional intangible value.

An extraordinary setting Signed Napoléon III

Vichy would not be Vichy without the arrival of Napoleon III. His aim? To make the town THE spa town. A casino, chalets, thermal baths and meeting places were all initiated by Napoléon III.

Historic Monument The congress centre

Since 1995, Vichy has been home to a congress centre and opera house. An exceptional setting, the result of the combined talents of architects, artists and craftsmen, past and present. The complex has been listed as a historic monument since 1996. Under Napoleon III, Vichy was booming. People came here to take the waters, but they also liked to have fun. These socialites loved games, balls and shows. The Emperor required the Compagnie fermière (manager of the springs and thermal baths) to ensure that this was the case. In 1865, the architect Charles Badger designed Vichy’s first casino-theatre.

A magical evening Vichy racecourse

Conceived under Napoleon III and launched in 1875, Vichy’s races soon made the racecourse an emblematic part of the town. Developed from 1895 onwards and modernised over the course of the XXᵉ century, it made its mark on the European horseracing scene from 1900 onwards thanks to its prestigious Grand Prix. Today, the Vichy racecourse covers 53 hectares and hosts around forty meetings every year.
